Mommy - The Fire Engine

Now that I pump exclusively for Cissy, L.J. has become completely fascinated by pumping. L.J. says, "Mommy pumping, Cissy milk." "Yes baby, Mommy is pumping Cissy milk." "L.J. pump?" So I give him a set of pump parts (not connected to the pump mind you) and he puts it on his belly and "pumps". Other than being a little weird, its pretty funny!

Well, a few weeks ago L.J. checked out a fire engine book from the library. We must have read it 3 times a day for the 2 weeks we had it. Needless to say, he can tell you all about fire engines. Pumper trucks have pumps and hoses, ladder trucks have ladders, there are fire boats, and the fire chief drives a special car and wears a special hat.

Do you see where this is going yet? Here it comes:
L.J.: Mommy pumping?
Me: Yes baby, Mommy's pumping
L.J.: Mommy's hoses?
Me: Yes baby, these are Mommy's hoses
L.J.: Mommy's pump?
Me: Yes, this is Mommy's pump
L.J.: Mommy's a pumper truck ... as this realization comes to fruition he then exclaims: MOMMY FIRE ENGINE!! MOMMY FIRE ENGINE!!

There you have it folks, Mommy, the fire engine!

UNCLE KENNY'S COMING HOME!!!!

We just found out that Kenny will be back at Camp LeJeune on MONDAY!!! Homecoming party details will be posted soon.

Cissy Update

As many of you know, Cissy is a sick kid. Has been that way since birth, slowly improving but still, her little life just sucks some days. Today we had an appt. with a pediatric gastroenterologist. And he says to us - there really isn't anything I can do for her. SUPER! One more person who can't offer us any help (which is fine, I'd rather him say that now, than run a ba-zillion tests and then tell me the same thing). He did refer us to the speech/language pathologist because he thinks that most of her issues are caused by her breathing/swallowing difficulties. So off to another specialist we go! The good news - are you ready for this:

- Cissy has gained a pound in the past week!!! A pound, a whole pound!! To put this in perspective for you, in the previous 4 weeks she only gained a pound! This is HUGE! I really, really needed some good news - thank you Jesus!!

A Day In the Life of a Mom

**I copied this from a friend of mine's blog. It was so true, I just had to pass it on!**

Recently, I was diagnosed with C. A. A. D. D. - Child Activated Attention Deficit Disorder.

This is how it manifests:
I decide to do the laundry. As I start toward the laundry room, I notice that there are cheerios all over the floor and my house keys are in the cereal bowl. I decide to pick up the cheerios before I do the laundry. I lay my keys down on the counter, put the cheerios in the trash can, and notice that the trash can is full. So, I decide to take out the trash.
But then I think, since I'm going to be near the mailbox when I take out the trash I may as well pay the bills first. I take my check book off the table, and see that there is only one check left, my extra checks are in my desk in the office, so I go to my desk where I find a sippy cup full of juice. I'm going to look for my checks, but first I decide I should put the sippy cup in the refrigerator to keep it cold.
As I head toward the kitchen with the sippy cup a plant on the counter catches my eye--it needs to be watered. I set the sippy cup on the counter, and I discover baby wipes that I've been searching for all morning. I decide I better put them back in the bathroom, but first I'm going to water the plants. I set the wipes back down, fill a container with water and suddenly I spot the TV remote, left on the kitchen table.
I realize that when I go to watch TV, I will be looking for the remote, but I won't remember that it's on the kitchen table, so I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs, but first I'll water the plants. I splash some water on the plant, but most of it spills on the floor. So, I set the remote back down, get some paper towels and wipe up the spill. Then I head down the hall trying to remember what I was planning to do.
At the end of the day: the laundry isn't washed, the bills aren't paid, there is a warm cup of juice sitting on the counter, the plants aren't watered, there is still only one check in my check book, I can't find the remote, I can't find the wipes, and I don't remember what I did with my keys.
Then when I try to figure out why nothing got done today, I'm really baffled because I know I was busy all day long, and I'm really tired.

Milestones

L.J. is a human parrot, he can and does repeat everything. To date we've managed not to use any less than desirable language. Until today, when we were driving down the road and I spilled something. So I cry out, "Aw, Crap!" to which my little parrot replies, "aw-crap, aw-crap, aw-crap, aw-crap". Luckily I completely ignored him, so I'm hoping that he lets it go. Yesterday he was sitting in the floor playing and I was on the phone. He looked up at me and said, "Mommy?" - "Yes, baby?" - "L.J.'s heart"(while pointing to his chest) - "Yes, baby, that's L.J.'s heart" ... and Mommy melts! He loves to sing the alphabet song, but he prefers the letters A, O, & R. He also prefers the numbers 3, 7, & 11. He eats really well - broccoli, tomato, carrot, potato, chicken, peanut butter, etc. He likes to sing, dance, jump, swing, run, and read. He sat on the couch this morning while I was feeding Cissy and read a book - TO HIMSELF! Now obviously he can't actually read, but he made up the story as he turned the pages. He is so awesome!

Cissy can do some pretty amazing things these days too. She can roll over, in both directions. She laughs, coos, and babbles. She is still crying (ALOT) and we are going to see the pediatric gastroenterologist next week. We have been to the dermatologist and the lactation consultant already this week. The LC said there was nothing more she could do :( And the dermatologist said not to worry about her birthmark, just to keep an eye on. It may need to be removed later, but only if it starts to grow abnormally. She is growing, just on the slow side - not that you would be able to tell that from looking at her (but I'm her Momma and I notice these things). She is meeting or exceeding all of her developmental milestones. She is such a pretty pretty princess! She loves people and for people to talk to her.

I guess that's about it for now. I'll try to post some more pics when I get a chance. Love you all - would love to hear from you (hint-hint)!
