The Sleep Diaries, Day One

Thank you Jesus! I had siked myself up for a rough night last night. It was going to be the first time I had ever put LJ down awake. I stay in the room, right next to the crib and hold his hand or rub his head to soothe him. I have heard stories of this taking 2-3 hours before a baby goes to sleep. But so far, so good. I put him down at 7:30pm and he fell asleep at 8:30pm, he played most of the time and only fussed and cried for a few minutes there at the end. I couldn't believe it, it must have been a fluke, I thought, he'll be up and down ALL night now. Wrong again ... he woke up at 9:30pm and I went in to soothe him, and he fell back to sleep within a few minutes. He got up at 1:30 am to eat and then I put him back to bed. It took about 10-12 minutes. He slept until 6:30 am!! I couldn't believe it! Then came the naps ... nap one: took about 30 minutes, he slept 1.5 hours; nap two: took about 10 minutes, he slept 2 hours. I just got him down to bed again, it took less than 15 minutes! I know that at some point he will begin to protest this change more vehemently, but for now I am grateful for the sleep and that we aren't listening to him scream his little baby guts out through the door. LORD give the me the strength to stick with this even when it gets tough. Thank You for the blessings of sleep and a calm baby thus far! Thanks to all who kept us in your prayers, we surely felt them.

I rejoice in your good report! Ask and you shall receive. Keep up the good work. It shows in what you posted. LJ knows he is safe, secure, and can sleep without much comforting. He knows and feels how much he is loved. Miss you guys!! Love, GMC
