Grassy-Ass and the Blogging Hiatus

Just thought I would let you know. I am going to be taking a break for a little while. Hope you all have enjoyed sharing a glimpse into our lives. I will leave you with one final story.
The kids are apparently learning Spanish. This is completely unintentional on my part (very much intentional by PBS). Anyways, we were eating lunch the other day and I gave L.J. his sandwich and he looked at me and said, "Grassy-ass, Mommy". "What did you just say?!?" I exclaim! "Grassy-ass, Mommy!" "Honey who taught you that?" b/c right now I am starting to panic that some crude creature has been using inappropriate language around my 3 yr old. and it will take me forever to undo the damage. At this point my mother, seeing the panic on my face, chimes in and lets me in on the joke and says to L.J., "Gracias L.J., good job using your manners!" Now I know she is dying laughing on the inside, but she manages to keep her composure. I think I'm going to be cute, so I say "de nada" [thank you in Spanish for those of you not up on your PBS] to which both children look up from their plates to ask me, "Where's Daddy?!?" GEEZ!!!

Happy Birthday to Me!

I have to admit that the BIG 3-0, wasn't really that big. In the weeks prior,I had the flu, then John had it, Cissy was sick for weeks ... so it just kinda got lost in the shuffle. I always imagined that I would have this huge thing when I turned 30, but turns out, it was just another birthday. Don't get me wrong, I'm not sad or upset, it was just different than I had expected. My 21st b-day was very similar ... I went to Charleston with my Mom. Which again, was great, fantastic actually, but not at all what I would have expected. So now I'm 30 and to tell you the truth, it doesn't feel much different from 29, or 28 for that matter. Thanks to everyone who helped to make it special.

My Favs of Each

So we've made the snowman, had the snowball fight, and stomped all through our yard and the neighbors ... had to bring the kids back in before they froze. So my question is, its only 9:30 am what do we do for the rest of the day?

What You Do for One ...

... you must do for the other. So here is Cissy in the snow, in her pajamas already ;)

It Finally Started to Snow

L.J. had been waiting all day for it to snow, and it finally did (right before bedtime, of course). But I let him go out in it for just a minute.

So Much Better ...

She still has some redness under her left eye and the doctor said she still has some clear fluid on her right ear, but on the whole, she is SO much better. She is feeling and acting much more herself now. The only draw back is a wicked diaper rash she has from all the antibiotics. Hopefully this will pass quickly. Anyways, here she is today in Bubba's boots. She was trying so hard to put them on by herself, but in the end she needed a little help. She stomped around the house for a few minutes and was so pleased with herself. Then Bubba saw her and brought her, her own boots so that he could have his back. Luckily she took the bait and everyone was happy!

The Never Ending Sickness

Bailey had to go back to the doctor AGAIN today and get ANOTHER shot of rocephin! Her eye is looking much better, but still has an ear infection. We have to go back tomorrow for another check of her ears and potentially another shot (that would be her third). Poor girl can't catch a break.

My Lil Trooper

Cissy caught the flu that I have had all week. She is running a high fever, snotty, congested, vomitting, barely eats or drinks, and on top of all that she has an ear infection (again)! Oh, and it looks like someone just about blacked her little eye. Every time she wakes up, it is literally swollen shut. But through it all, she just wants to be held and sleeps. What a champ! She's barely had any medication for her fever and the doctor said that if she can handle we should let her. She's my hero!

The Hair-Pulling Saga

The Bald Spot: this is the spot the LJ pulls out his hair. Not really on purpose, but at the same time he can't really just stop either. The only solution really is to shave his head.

Here is the before:

And here he is, freshly scalped:

Our Poor Little Snowman

We really tried, but the snow just wouldn't pack. But the kids were happy with what we had.
